The best cafés in Malmö

The cafés and coffee shops that has the best coffee in Malmö

Solde Kaffebar

Quality coffee, canalside

It's pretty small and the barstools aren't particularly comfortable, but there's a very good reason to drop by this busy coffeebar. Their own-roasted coffee is excellent, as is the knowledge around it the friendly staff will often drop. Enhanced with your choice of sandwich or homebaked cake.

Lilla Kafferosteriet

Coffee bar in the city

Malmö's beloved Lilla Kafferosteriet draws coffee enthusiasts from all over town to their charming 17th century premises in the city. Their own-roasted coffee is sold at several outlets around Malmö but here you can choose from their entire rich, ever-changing range of coffee beans, as well as enjoying cakes and pastries.

Uggla Kaffebar

Great coffee on the sunny side

This lively young coffeebar occupies a prime, sunny position on the corner of S:t Knuts Torg. They're passionate about really good coffee, both Swedish and Danish, but their refreshing Danish soft drinks are also well worth a try. If you're sweet-toothed and/or peckish, never fear. They also bake goodies fresh every day according to the seasons and their mood.

Dolce Sicilia

Gelato and pasta just like in Sicily

Malmö may not be blessed with the best weather, but at Dolce Sicilia you can always pretend. As soon as the sun peeks out from behind the clouds, Malmö locals flock here for a scoop or two of primo homemade gelato, a proper espresso or a portion of fresh pasta with homemade, Sicilian-style pesto. You can also buy their homemade pasta to take home with you.

Noir Vin & Kaffekultur

A serious cup of java in Gamla Väster

You'll find Noir Kaffekultur and their excellent organic coffee among the cobbled lanes of Gamla Väster. Choose a home-baked cake, sandwich or soup to go with your coffee. Swap your usual milk for oat milk, or ring the changes with a energy-boosting juice.

Hollandia

Classic café on pedestrian street

With more than 100 years in the business, Hollandia has truly mastered the art of runnnig a konditori and café. Everything from buns and breads to Danish pastries and cookies baked on site - check. Top quality tea and coffee - check. Classically elegant interiors and an outdoor area with fantastic people-watching - check. Quite simply, Hollandia ticks all the boxes.

Café Grannen

Visiting the neighbours

The bright, colourful exterior of Café Grannen ("Café Neighbour") bodes well. It's so cosy and comfortable you may as well forget any plans you might have had for the rest for the day. Sink into one of the comfy sofas and sip good-value coffee or a delicious chai latte. Bring along a friend, your laptop or a book for breakfast, lunch or coffee. Many of the cakes and pastries they serve are baked on site.

Kaffebaren på Möllan

The neighbourhood coffee nerd

This coffee bar on a corner in the heart of Möllan is a well-known, popular spot. It's often packed with a wonderfully mixed crowd of coffee-lovers from near and far. People come for the fantastic coffee but stay for the friendly atmosphere and delicious sandwiches and croissants.

Café Element

Café hangout in leafy surroundings

If you're looking for a café on the greener side, without having to leave the city, Element could be the ideal option. Their windows and outdoor space face onto the leafy streets of peaceful Rörsjöstaden and you can drop by for lunch, coffee or weekend brunch. Popular with families and students.

Nostra

Trendy and pared-back

Nostra is Noir Vin & Kaffekultur's sister restaurant, and just as popular. In a cosy corner spot with arched windows and pared-back interiors, they serve delicious and beautifully presented sweet and savoury dishes for breakfast, lunch and coffee.

Café Pronto

The best cheesecake in Malmö

We're not sure exactly when it happened but a few years ago Pronto suddenly became known as 'Home of the Cheesecake', and rightly so. Huge, delicious slices of New York-style cheescake in various flavours are served here and draw in the crowds, but their location on Lilla Torg is another major bonus. Coffee, tea, pasta salads and other sweet treats are also on offer.

Cafe No.6

Coffee from several different countries

This super little café is so popular that the windows fog up on the coldest of days. They offer a classic café selection with sandwiches, salads, cakes and other goodies for snacks and lunch, but its the excellent coffee that takes centre stage. They're not afraid to try new, exciting kinds of coffee from many different countries.
