After their success in Farsta, Bun Meat Bun opened up their doors in the city centre, this time inside Söderhallarna food market in the middle of Medborgarplatset. Here, they flip their famous burgers "fast casual" style - top quality ingredients prepared simply and speedily. They're perhaps best known for their special "smash technique", which draws in burger fans from all over town.
Stockholm has really raised its hamburger game in recent years, and one joint that's earned itself a great reputation is Bun Meat Bun. Their original restaurant out in Farsta had burger aficionados flocking to it, and now you can just drop by (and possibly wait in line at) their pared-back Södermalm outlet if you're in the area. They make hamburgers to order here from coarse-ground chuck steak and classic buns. The way they press the meat down on the grill creating a really crispy surface has become Bun Meat Bun's signature technique.
The menu consists of a small choice of burgers, of which one is vegetarian (the Portabello burger) and the rest are variations on the classic hamburger with cheese, fried onion, pickles and bbq sauce. Among the sides you'll find various kinds of fries (fries with melted cheese are a must-try) as well as several dipping sauces. Combine with a milkshake made with top-quality ice cream, a craft beer or why not a Snapple? Their philosophy of combining quality with relaxed simplicity pervades the entire concept: you both order and pay at the counter.
