The Pescatarian

A Copenhagen favorite for fish lovers: The Pescatarian runs a pure pescetarian line in a stately corner of Frederiksstaden, right by Kastellet and Amalienborg, with seasonal fish, shellfish, and vegetables as the focal point. The style is elegant without being stiff, and the kitchen’s core idea is clear: local catches and vegetables in clean flavor profiles. Sister to Bib Gourmand darling Marv & Ben, the concept is fine-tuned by Johan Burich-Holck and accompanied by a small oyster bar for snacks and bubbles if you just want to drop by the bar.

The wine list is strong on Champagne, Germany, and Burgundy, characterized by mineral-driven, high-acid whites that play perfectly with the taste of the sea, and the bar mixes classic cocktails as well as non-alcoholic pairings if you go all in on the menu. It’s a place where you can just as well come for a glass and a bit of caviar as for a full tasting, but expect a focus on wine rather than beer.

Lunch is à la carte, evenings offer set menus, and the entire menu can be made vegetarian or vegan with 24 hours’ notice. If you’re a larger group, they’re used to hosting parties and have dedicated spaces for 30, 45, and 62 guests, plus a separate “Downstairs” address nearby if you want complete privacy.
