Best après-ski in Åre

From lively après-ski spots to cosy moments by the fire – these are Åre's best après-ski venues

Verandan

Bar and dance floor

One of Åre's liveliest and rowdiest après-ski spots is located right in the village, a stone's throw from the square and park, next to the restaurant Supper. Outside Verandan, the queues snake long well in advance of the doors opening, so it's wise to arrive early – or book a table. Verandan has plenty of space, a large stage, and a big dance floor – with many different bars. On stage, you'll find bands singing covers to the audience's delight.

Timmerstugan

Sunday club

Timmerstugan, which is next to VM:6an and the new Stjärnliften, puts on an excellent après-ski on Sundays. Book a table and enjoy a delicious meal at red and white chequered tablecloths with candles on the tables, just like in the Alps. When the après-ski kicks off, the venue fills with smoke cannons and people singing along to the music.

Hotell Fjällgården

Party with Alpine vibes

This hotel is located right on the slopes (but fortunately can also be accessed by car and cable car), which gives it its lovely, Alpine-like surroundings and beautiful views over Åre village. In addition to the hotel and restaurant, there's a pool, and in winter their renowned après-ski. There's plenty of space for happy guests to sing along with the band on stage. Just take it easy when heading home, as you can leave in style by hopping on your skis or snowboard and skiing down to the village.

Broken

Beer pub

Broken is Åre's equivalent of a pub. Locals and tourists alike come here to enjoy a beer in a good atmosphere. During après-ski hours and late evenings, the volume is turned up and hits are pumped out from the speakers. In the evenings, it attracts a slightly younger crowd, but during the day, the clientele is mixed. You can also eat here, with options such as hamburgers and other street food dishes.

Bygget

Åre nightclub

Bygget is probably Åre's most clubby nightclub. Well-known artists have played here, including Miriam Bryant, Daniel Adams-Rey, Timbuktu, Icona Pop, and more. Live bands are the name of the game at their after-ski, with a venue offering a large dance floor and plenty of space to join in with the songs.

Åregården

Cosy hotel charm

Do you prefer to round off a day on the slopes in a more laid-back way, with something nice in your glass? Then beat a retreat to Hotel Åregården. Settle down in their lobby bar or take a seat in the wine bar with a nice glass of wine or a cold beer. The hotel, in the heart of the village, has a cosy, alpine-like architecture that feels snug and welcoming. Your four-legged friend is also welcome here.

Årehyddan

Right on the slopes

Not far from Timmerstugan and VM6, this restaurant is right on the slopes. It's ski-in/ski-out, but if you prefer to walk or take a taxi, that's also possible. Hyddan serves lunch throughout the season, and when the sun's out, you can sit on the outdoor terrace. On selected afternoons, their traditional après-ski features live bands and great covers!

Granen

In front of an open fire

At Hotel Granen, the open fireplace is always roaring. Just a short walk up from the main square, you can settle into comfy sofas, take a seat at the bar, or at a table if you're hungry. The hotel serves sharp cocktails, beer, and not least wine, which they're extremely knowledgeable about.

Tegetornet

House troubadour and quizzes

At Tegetornet in Tegefjäll you can enjoy views of the slope while eating pizza or drinking a beer. The house musician entertains with singalong songs and they also hold regular quizzes.

Parkvillan

Beer and burgers

Åre's very own brewery bar can be found in the park next to the square, hence the name. They brew their own beer on site here, and not just one type – there's plenty of choice for anyone with a thirst for the brown beverage. Pair your beer with burgers or ambitious dishes with flavours from all corners of the world. Numerous locals hang out here, happily socialising over a few drinks after a day on the slopes, without loud music.

Copperhill Mountain Lodge

Don't miss the last lift

The highest hotel in the village is right at the top of Björnen, so make sure you don't miss the last lift up. This enormous hotel, with modern architecture, is surrounded by beautiful nature and stunning views over Åre. Grab a drink at the bar and hang around the open fireplace, or why not enjoy après-ski in their spa? Swim in the pool, relax in the sauna and lounge on the sunbeds with a drink.
