The best restaurants in Åre

Where to eat in Åre

Boqueria

Spanish atmosphere

Gather around the table at Boqueria to share a jug of sangria and Spanish tapas. But when we say tapas, we don't just mean the traditional ones; you can also find more innovative flavour experiences here – but with clear Spanish influences. Start off the evening with a cocktail, stay for a long dinner, or wind down as the small hours approach.

Fjällpuben

Norrlandic flavour experience

Once upon a time, chef and restaurateur Marcus Aujalay ran Fjällpuben. This cosy restaurant is located right in the village, but in a slightly tucked away location. When you finally find it, you step into a modern mountain cabin environment, with exciting cocktails and northern flavours on the menu.

Supper

South American small plates and a party atmosphere

South American flavours on the plate and in the glass. At Supper, which also has branches in Visby and Stockholm, a flavourful fusion menu is served in the form of smaller plates that guests are encouraged to share, to collectively experience and enjoy the flavours. There's often a festive atmosphere on weekends, with a DJ playing music and plenty of space to dance.

Liten Krog

Quality neighbourhood bistro

Cosy and inviting are the key words at Liten Krog. Comfort food with finesse. This little neighbourhood bistro is where you should head if you're looking for a calm, pleasant evening, with a moderate noise level, subdued lighting, and a rustic atmosphere. On the menu, you'll find good wines, beers, and dishes with flavours from the Nordics and Europe, such as fish and seafood stew or reindeer fillet.

Imilla

Feel at home

Imilla is run by an experienced team dedicated to providing the best possible guest experience with a personal touch, food they love, and good drinks. Book a reasonably priced tasting menu or drop into the bar for a drink and a bite to eat.

Granen

Petter's restaurant

One of Åre's most renowned hotels, with a restaurant that offers high-quality food. One of the owners of this establishment is musical artist Petter, who also lives in the village. Enjoy dinner in rustic and relaxed surroundings with a luxurious menu that draws its flavours primarily from Sweden and Jämtland, with ingredients such as Arctic char, duck, and vendace roe. You can also book a chef's table here.

Broken

Burgers and beers

Broken has become a classic hangout in the village. It's a place to gather after the slopes for a beer or a burger platter. The outdoor seating offers sunshine and is often full during the high season, as is the venue in the evening when the noise level increases.

Åregården

Exclusive mountain hotel

Åregården isn't just an exclusive mountain hotel, it also has several restaurants and bars where guests can eat and drink in cosy surroundings. Plenty of food, wine, and cocktails are available in the historic premises.

Mister French

With a French touch

This Stockholm fish and seafood restaurant also has an offshoot here in the village, but with a different concept. The festive atmosphere remains, but the menu is slightly different. The bar serves well-shaken cocktails, and as the small hours approach, it gets lively, not least in Club Chambre. In the restaurant, you can enjoy brunch and dinner with a French theme, featuring dishes such as vendace roe tacos, steak tartare, and ribeye steak.

Parkvillan

Brewery, restaurant and hotel

Parkvillan is a popular gastropub for anyone who loves beer, but you can also combine beer with food and overnight stays in the heart of Åre. The menu is created based on the seasons and consists of smaller dishes with influences from, among other places, the other side of the Atlantic.

Werséns

Bistro with bar

Åre's answer to a neighbourhood bistro is Werséns, with its restaurant, bar and welcoming atmosphere. Enjoy a lunch, have a drink, grab a coffee or indulge in a slap-up dinner. Over the weekend, the vibe picks up as the DJ behind the bar turns up the volume. The menu features everything from fish and seafood to meat and vegetarian options.

Crêperie & Logi

For the Francophile

Crêperie & Logi has become known for its French crêpes and galettes in Visby, Åre, and Stockholm. In the old fire station in the middle of the village, you can indulge in hearty buckwheat galettes and sweet crêpes with varied fillings. You'll also find French cider and other drinks on the menu.

APO

Fusion dishes from Asia

One of Stureplansgruppen's well-established restaurants here in the village is none other than APO, Asian Post Office – famous for its popcorn prawns and the highly Instagrammable Thai basil cocktails. Enjoy sharing dishes from the Asian kitchen that incorporate elements from all corners of the world, or simply stop by the bar for a drink.

Mrs Maggie

Cosy café and more!

Sandwiches, salads and European home-cooked dishes. Wine and beer. Coffee and pastries. At Mrs Maggie in Duved, you can enjoy lunch, fika and dinner in a charming environment where everything is homemade. The atmosphere is family-friendly, and during the summer, you can sit on the outdoor terrace and take in the sights of Duved village.

La' Gårn

Wood-fired pizzas

La' Gårn, formerly Torvtaket, is regarded by many as Åre's best pizzeria. You'll find this cosy pizzeria just outside the village. Once upon a time, it often got pretty loud and lively at weekends, but nowadays they only serve light beer. However, pizza guests continue to pour in in both winter and summer – when you can enjoy the lovely terrace.

Åre Nature Studio

Exclusive Jämtland flavour experience

Behind this taste experience deep in the Jämtland woods is chef and hunter Fredrik Karlsson. He offers his guests a complete experience with a tasting menu that he has composed himself, from grain to loaf. The flavours are local, Swedish. All this is enjoyed in an intimate setting, with only a few other guests. If you like, you can also stay overnight in one of their barrels.

Copperhill Mountain Lodge

Magical environment

This modern design hotel atop Mount Förberget boasts stunning views, an award-winning spa, and seasonal local ingredients. All food is prepared from scratch using both modern and traditional techniques, and you will find game and fresh fish on the menu, among other things. Come here for a world-class experience.
