Where to enjoy brunch in Hove

Oeuf

Frumpet icons

On Third Avenue, Oeuf Café is one of Hove's number one spots for brunch. Inside, it's all marble, duck-egg tones and pastels adorned with florals, complete with a secret garden for sunny brunching. The menu's heavy on the eggs, from benedicts to the “Oeuf & Surf”, all made with golden-yolked Cacklebean eggs. The real showstopper is their cult “frumpets”: French toast meets crumpet. There's also local coffee, mimosas, and post-brunch bouquets from the in-house florist.

Baked

Does the brunch basics well

Baked on Church Road is always buzzing. The menu covers all the classics but goes bigger with huevos rancheros, courgette and feta waffles, and some Insta-worthy stacked pancakes. There's outdoor seating for prime people-watching, decent coffee, and a steady stream of dogs under tables. It's not reinventing the wheel, but it doesn't need to.

Jo & Co

Family-run brunches

Right on Church Road, Jo & Co brings a taste of Aussie and Kiwi brunch culture to Hove. Expect all the classics, like corn fritters, pancakes, and a proper full English, alongside bigger plates like burgers and fish and chips. The vibe's lively without being loud, and there's always a mix of locals and weekend brunchers filling the tables. It's family-run and a bit of a local institution.

Hixon Green

Hip Hove hangout

Hixon Green is Hove's cool all-day hangout, part brunch spot, part cocktail bar. The vibe's pure New York loft with a Sussex twist, with moody lighting, plush seating and tasty plates. Brunch is a modern British affair with a few global influences, such as eggs and avocado, alongside fresh fish, vegan bowls, and pastries. It's a great shout for a long lunch or quiet coffee.

Nord Hove

Scandi vibes

On Western Road, Nord channels cool, Scandi calm with a minimalist, wood-clad space and a menu that flits between wholesome and indulgent. Think truffle butter scrambled eggs, beetroot hummus bowls, and pistachio pancakes that could double as dessert. Vegans and vegetarians are also well catered to, with colourful falafel and grain bowls. To round it off, the coffee's also excellent and the service is friendly.

Richard's Cafe

Classic brekkie spot

A Hove classic, Richard's Café on Church Road has been fuelling locals since the '70s with hearty breakfasts, stacked sandwiches and proper mugs of tea. It has a bright yellow exterior, which you definitely can't miss, and the staff are always super friendly. The vibe's relaxed, and it's all about the classics everyone loves, minus the frills.

Fika Avenue Fika Hove

Brunch, caffeine, and good vibes

With two Hove locations, FIKA keeps it simple: filthy fried eggs, great coffee, and properly indulgent sandwiches. A joint venture from Cracked and Back Yard Coffee, it's all about comfort done right, serving a menu of dishes like grilled cheese with chilli jam, or the “Breakfast Bird,” a fried chicken and egg bun. Vegans are also well taken care of with plant-based swaps that actually work very well.
