Greater Manchester's Denton train station has been named the least used in the UK, with just 54 entries and exits between April 2023 and March 2024.
Although it is known for its proximity to Manchester and the Peak District, the station still sees minimal traffic, primarily due to its isolated location and limited service. Only one train passes through the station a week, the parliamentary service between Stalybridge and Stockport, but its out-of-the-way location is also thought to contribute to its ghost town status. It's located on Manchester Road North, close to the Sainsbury's supermarket, making it difficult to access. The fact that there is a distinct lack of facilities is the cherry on top.
Denton now tops the list of least-used stations, surpassing the region's Reddish South and other low-traffic stations. Meanwhile, London's stations, including Liverpool Street and Birmingham New Street, dominate the busiest spots, with Manchester Piccadilly ranking among the top in the UK.
