Yep, you read that right – XLR in Withington is introducing a BYOB policy at its club nights, the first such venue in the UK to do so.

XLR is Manchester's first bring-your-own-booze nightclub, offering a fresh twist on the city's nightlife scene. Alongside the venue's own bar, guests can bring in their own drinks, store them in dedicated fridges behind the counter, and have the staff serve them throughout the night at no extra cost beyond the entry fee. There are a few rules you have to follow (no glass, for example, so leave those limited-edition Swarowski Don Ramons at home), but apart from that, it sounds like a genius way to keep clubbing fun and accessible.

Set in a revamped 200-capacity space, the student-friendly XLRT nightclub focuses on electronic sounds, with different collectives curating the music each evening. It relaunches on 24 September.
