Japan Week 2025 is set to transform Manchester into a hub of Japanese culture from 4–9 September, with a six‑day free festival marking the annual event's 50th anniversary. Chosen by the International Friendship Foundation as this year's host city, Manchester joins a prestigious list of past locations including Florence, Seville, and Boston.

The festival will showcase both traditional and contemporary Japanese culture through arts, music, fashion, sports, and interactive workshops across iconic city venues. Highlights include theatre at Home, tea ceremonies at Manchester Museum, and the UK premiere of “BLOOM”, a vibrant fusion of music, dance, and fashion. Alongside city‑centre events, local hubs such as Gorton Hub, Wythenshawe Forum, and Abraham Moss Library will host further community activities.
