The National Portrait Gallery has partnered with Frameless, the award-winning company behind large-scale immersive exhibitions highlighting iconic works by some of history's greatest artists, for the first major touring immersive art experience inspired by a UK art institution.

National Portrait Gallery Unframed, as the collaboration is titled, will launch different touring experiences in the coming years, starting with “Stories – Brought to Life”. Launching at Salford's MediaCity in May 2025, the exhibition will explore the fascinating lives of people featured in the NPG's collection, bringing the latter to life with the help of state-of-the-art technology and effects.

Tickets for the inaugural exhibition go on sale in February – sign up to the newsletter here for more information and early-bird access.
