Greek restaurant

One of the buzziest Manchester opening of 2023, Fenix Restaurant & Bar comes from the group behind the famed Tattu restaurants and brings the same kind of over-the-top sensibilities to the table. This time, however, the focus is on the Mediterranean instead of Asia.

Similar to how its older Asian siblings are known as much for their interiors as their food, everything down to the last detail was considered when planning out Fenix in order to ensure an immersive and awe-inspiring experience. Rooted in Greek myth, Mykonian philosophy, and a cyclical approach to life, the opulent restaurant's designers have applied artisanal stonework and meticulous craftsmanship to create a luxurious slice of the Aegean. The ambiance in Fenix's main dining area on the upper floor changes as the day goes by, from a bright lunchtime venue to a seductively dim dinner spot, with uniformed staff taking care of your culinary needs. The ground-floor cocktail bar, meanwhile, is styled as a phoenix nest, with sheaves of wheat adorning the ceiling as you sip an expertly-mixed cocktail before heading upstairs. On weekends, the bar also hosts DJs for its so-called Moonlight Parties.

The menu at Fenix is equally thought out, drawing inspiration from classic Greek and Mediterranean cuisine and adding Asian flourishes to it. There's a range of menus to choose from, including vegetarian, vegan, and sharing ones, with dishes spanning the full range of Greek favourites. Start off with some fresh pita breads, creamy spreads, and hot and cold mezze, before hitting the headliners – upmarket meat and seafood dishes such as Wagyu stifado cooked over an open fire, lobster spaghetti, or stuffed robata sea bass. Indulgent desserts and an international wine list complete the experience.
