La Penombra gets a new delivery of fresh produce directly from Italy every morning. Sun-ripened tomatoes, citrus fruits and other fruit and vegetables are then made into authentic Italian dishes from scratch. Ingredients that don't come from Italy are sourced from nearby farms and producers, such as the flour for the bread that's baked on site every day.
The menu consists of antipasti, primi, secondi and dolci, with both meat and meat-free options. Naturally, there are pasta, gnocchi and risotto dishes, as well as rustic fish and meat dishes, but the menu changes with the seasons and according to which ingredients are freshest. Wine can be enjoyed in the bar and with food.
Eat surrounded by candlelight, crystal chandeliers, arched windows and decorative stucco work. There's a long bar on one side of the restaurant where you can take a pew and have a glass of wine - and perhaps enjoy “la penombra”, which means dusk in Italian. Larger groups and companies can hire out the entire premises for private parties, conferences and events.
