Malmö's hottest restaurants at the moment

With an open mind, creativity, and ambitious tasting menus, Vollmers aims to take Skåne's gastronomy to the next level. What they serve is determined by the season's produce, but expect clean, well-composed flavours from local ingredients. The interior follows the same elegant and slightly stripped-back style.

Mygel have left behind their previous Italian concept and are now fully focused on authentic flavours from Japan. We're not talking about sushi and ramen; rather, more unknown dishes that are mostly prepared in Japanese homes. The menu is entirely vegetarian and created by Saori Ichihara, who was born and raised in Japan.

Babusia is run by Sweden's MasterChef winner Anja Allvin, who, inspired by her grandmother (Babusia means grandmother in Ukrainian), prepares authentic Ukrainian comfort food for lunch, dinner, and weekend breakfast. The place is Sweden's first Ukrainian restaurant and has quickly become a popular spot among Malmö's foodies. Enjoy dishes like borscht, varenyky, and syrnyky, often accompanied by Ukrainian wine. Many of the dishes are available in vegetarian versions.

At Mutantur, you can create your own tasting menu, or just drop by for a glass of wine along with a few small dishes. The inspiration in the kitchen largely comes ingredients from the Nordic region and Skåne, but influences from further afield also have their place on the menu. Drinks-wise, the focus is on classic wines, with a wide selection available by the glass or bottle.

What draws people to a little wooden cottage in the middle of Folkets Park in the evenings? It could well be the summery wood-fired pizzas, the delicious medium-sized dishes and the impressive choice of natural wines. Or it could just be for a simple glass of wine or beer. Far i hatten works equally well for a whole evening of great food and wine as for a nice stop-off on a Malmö night out.

At Osteria Amore you dine in next-level surroundings – with a large marble bar, a bold pink splash of colour, patterned rugs and undulating shapes. Come to revel in love - on the plate, in the glass and in the atmosphere. Pasta and pizza are the focus here, as are Italian charcuterie and well-shaken cocktails. Given the name and the romantic colour, the place is particularly well suited for a date, but groups of friends will also feel at home here. Don't miss the outdoor seating by the canal.

In March 2025, food influencer and cookbook author Karin Lei opened the doors to her restaurant Sanlo, and it quickly became a huge hit. Whether the hype is due to the lack of Taiwanese street food in Malmö or Karin's popularity as a food influencer remains to be seen. The menu features noodles and other exciting dishes, with meat or vegetarian options.

Inspired by Hong Kong's lively streetfood scene, Köket Lu opened up their doors in 2019 to great fanfare. Dedicated foodies and ordinary Malmöites alike embraced the concept immediately. Their specialty is whole-roast duck, but don't miss their other dishes, including what may just be Malmö's most delicious dumplings.

The food and flavours at Bouchon feel a little like a loving hug - and who doesn't love a nice hug? The frequently updated menu includes what may just be the city's best steak tartare, duck terrine and onglet steak. The wines - French and otherwise - pair perfectly with the food. 

Modern and trend-conscious, MJ's boasts cutting-edge bartenders, a rising-star chef and a stunning dining room with a high glass ceiling and masses of greenery. The menu is based around the best ingredients available in season, with dishes served in smaller sizes making them ideal for sharing. A hotspot for Malmö's movers and shakers.

Date night or night out with pals? Lyran is always a great option when you're in the mood for creative flavour experiences using the very best regional ingredients. Sit in the cosy basement dining room or by the open kitchen watching the chefs work their magic.

DINÉ began smashing burgers in Gothenburg in 2014 and they can now be found in several cities around Sweden, of which Malmö is one. If you'd rather eat burgers that are made rom scratch, from Swedish ingredients, this is the place to head. Choose from classic, vegetarian and vegan burgers and combine with sides such as mixed fries and coleslaw.
