A six-metre replica of the moon is touching down in Cheshire this autumn from 1 to 19 September (a 50-minute drive from Manchester city centre), and it's totally free to visit.
The impressive sculpture, 'Museum of the Moon', was created by UK artist Luke Jerram and will be on display from September 1 to 19, 2025, inside the Glasshouse at Alderley Park, a lush 400-acre green space located just outside Macclesfield.
The glowing sculpture has been detailed with actual NASA imagery of the lunar surface and is lit from within, giving the illusion of a real moon hanging low. To round it off, the piece is accompanied by an atmospheric soundscape composed by Dan Jones, which further adds to its otherworldly feel.
It's free to visit while it's on, but the grand finale – the 'SciTech Extravaganza' on Saturday, 20 September – is a must. Expect a fun-filled day of science shows, coding workshops, balloon experiments, DJs, face painting and street food, all taking place beneath the glowing moon.
Museum of the Moon is on display for free from 1 to 19 September in Alderley Park. Find out more here.
