The Shamrock, a historic boozer with deep roots in the city's Irish and Italian communities, is set to reopen in Ancoats with a new name, a major refurb, and even a beer garden.

Now called The Spinner's Rest, the pub has undergone a sensitive restoration that preserves its original charm while giving it a much-needed refresh, which is fitting, since the building sits in a conservation area. Joseph Holt Brewery, the family-run business behind the project, even invited locals to help choose the new name, making sure the pub's future reflects the community it's always served.

As CEO Richard Kershaw puts it, “This is an exciting new chapter for The Shamrock. We believe it will become a vibrant and welcoming hub for the Ancoats community — just as it always has been, but with a fresh look towards the future.”

With one of the few beer gardens in the area and plenty of historic character still intact, The Spinners Rest looks set to become a proper neighbourhood hangout once again.
