Dough Club, a Mancunian takeaway pizza joint specialising in Detroit-style pizza, is gearing up for expansion this year.
Various industry experts will tell you that pizza is set to be one of the major foodie trends of the year, but not just your boring old Neapolitan pizza. Instead, alternative takes on the Italian classic are set to take the stage, including the likes of Chicago deep dish, thin, crispy NYC pizza, and the cracker-like St. Louis version.

This bodes well for Dough Club, a viral Manchester venture specialising in Detroit-style pizza that launched a hole-in-the-wall takeaway joint in Queen Street last year. For the uninitiated, Detroit pizza is a rectangular pizza with a thick, airy dough base, topped first by cheese and then tomato sauce on top (as well as your chosen toppings, of course). The result is a soft, chewy pizza with a crisp edge.
Those looking to try this unique take on pizza are in luck, as Dough Club is gearing up to open not one, but two new locations this year. The franchise is currently setting up shop in Oxford Road, next to the university, and in Cheadle Hulme, with exact dates still TBD. They'll be celebrating the launches with free slices, so keep your eyes peeled for the opening dates – we'll update them as soon as we know.
