Nobu is preparing to take over Manchester's skyline with a landmark new development set to rise 76 storeys above the city centre.
Part-owned by actor and entrepreneur Robert De Niro, Nobu Hospitality has announced plans to open a hotel, restaurant, and, for the first time on British soil, Nobu-branded residences, all located within what will become the UK's tallest building outside London.
The Viadux 2 tower is a £360 million collaboration with developer Salboy, reaching a whopping 246 metres above Deansgate. It's designed by SimpsonHaugh Architects – the same firm behind Deansgate Square and the Beetham Tower. Although it's pending final approvals, construction is expected to begin later this year, with completion projected in four to five years.
The project will feature the Nobu Hotel Manchester, offering 160 specially-designed guest rooms and suites, as well as event spaces and a signature Nobu restaurant and bar. The interiors are set to channel the brand's globally recognised aesthetic: calm, pared-back luxury with a smidge of Japanese tradition and contemporary architectural finesse.
The tower will also feature 452 branded residences, offering buyers a chance to “live the Nobu way.” Think understated, elegant design with curated Japanese details, private access to the hotel's pool, spa, and wellness centre, a podium garden, and gym, along with round-the-clock service, from Nobu dining to concierge-led city experiences.
So while London may have long been Nobu's British playground, all eyes are now turning north.
