Today we took a long trip all the way to Uppsala to visit Koh Pangan thai restaurant. This restaurant gives you the feeling that you are in Thailand. Even though we live in Stockholm, we don't have the opportunity to go into town just to eat. But since the family likes long trips by car, we thought we'd go to Uppsala and then take the opportunity to eat at Keh Pangan.
What is most worth seeing here is their décor and the whole environment. From coloured lights to staff clothes and small details that all match the surroundings. Lovely friendly staff who will greet you with a happy smile when you enter. There are still special seats in the facility that you need to book. Like a tuck tuck where you can sit and eat and a corner seat where you have a view of the waters. But if you haven't booked, don't worry, you can get a place anyway as the restaurant is very large. We took the time to go through the menu and there is a lot to choose from. vegan, fish, meat and chicken and it clearly says Hot, Not So Hot and children's menu.
We ordered Pad Thai Kong scampi Kao Pat Gai Gal Met Mamoang Koong Chop Beng Tot Ph Peh Pak
Let's start with Pad Thai which my boys usually eat, it's Thai. The egg noodles were perfect and the scampi were well cooked. Just the right amount of strong and delicious taste of sweet, sour and chilli combined with toppings of nuts and sprouts. To go with it, you also get a refreshing orange. Kao Pat Gai as a daughter chose from the children's menu. Even the children's portion was a reasonably large portion. Rice with egg, omelette and chicken strips, absolutely perfect for the kids to eat as no big complicated pieces you have to cut. It was mild in taste but still well seasoned and savory. Simply perfect for the kids.
Gal Met Mamoang which consists of fine thin pieces of chicken with perfectly stir-fried peppers topped with cashew nuts. For those who like extra saucey stews, this one is perfect, the chicken and wok are drowning in sweet and sour soy sauce. To this you get perfectly cooked rice, long white grains and you get this in a separate bowl which I thought was good.
Ph Peh Pak is an appetizer with vegetarian spring rolls served with sweet chili sauce. I've actually eaten better in other places so nothing special about it. It was too oily, I've eaten better in other places.
Koong Choop Beng Tot Deep-fried scampi "Thai style" served with plum sauce. I liked the sauce a lot, I've never tasted it before. The scampi was very crispy and tasted great.
But that wasn't all, the kids also wanted dessert, so we had a Banana Split and House Sorbet 3 scoops. Banana split large portion with banana, ice cream and on top cream with chocolate it became a favorite. The sorbet ice cream was also nicely served.
For us, it was the experience itself that drew us there. To be able to sit in an environment that takes you directly to Thailand, Bangkok, you can't experience this anywhere else. A lovely experience that I recommend to everyone.
