Di Spagna

Piazza Di Spagna - the city's oldest neighbourhood restaurant - is situated in the heart of Västerås. Italian classics combine with international influences on a menu that carries culinary traditions over to the next generation. 

Di Spagna opened up its doors in 1976. The bistro has changed hands since then, but it maintains its long-held place in the hearts of Västerås locals. Regulars and new guests alike come here to enjoy well-prepared food in surroundings reminiscent of a trattoria on the Mediterranean.

At lunchtime they serve rustic flavours from all around Europe. Their signature dish, plank steak, comes in an Italian-influenced variation with parmesan duchesse potatoes. In the evenings the menu extends to include both larger and smaller dishes, ideal for sharing family-style. Italy may take centre stage here, but there are also culinary influences from other nearby countries. Schnitzel, Greek salad and shellfish stew are classics on the menu, as is the Swedish favourite Toast Skagen. Leave plenty of room for dessert though; there's plenty to choose from, such as tiramisu, gino and Italian gelato in masses of different flavours. 

In true Italian style, drinks are also extremely important at Di Spagna. Start off your meal with a classic aperitif, pair your food with a glass of wine or beer, or perhaps round off your meal with a digestif ordered by the cl. The drinks menu also includes plenty of non-alcoholic alternatives.
