The iconic Manchester brand Almost Famous is super sad to announce that they have gone into liquidation, with all its venues closing as of 27 January. Inspired by US chain In-N-Out Burger and London's Meat Liquor, Almost Famous leaves behind a legacy of reshaping the classic burger in the UK, serving wacky creations like burgers topped with Monster Munch and bacon Frazzles. The economic challenges, including lingering COVID-related debt and rising costs, have proven unbeatable despite their best efforts.
Founder Beau Myers expressed gratitude to everyone who has been part of the Almost Famous journey, stating, “To everyone who's been part of our story - thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The memories we've made together will stay with us forever.”
They have made a name for themselves for their no-nonsense approach and no-bookings policy, initially drawing a crowd to its first location in the Northern Quarter in 2012. The upstairs restaurant on High Street was a big hit, leading to further openings on Edge Street, Great Northern, and Wilmslow Road in Withington, which closed last year. The brand later opened more restaurants in Liverpool and Leeds.
They signed off by saying, “This isn't how we wanted the story to end, but we are proud of everything we accomplished and the joy we brought to so many. And while we must say goodbye, for now, we hold onto the hope that Almost Famous may return one day in some form.”
