Our goal for Thatsup is to be the go-to choice for anyone seeking a city guide, no matter where you are in the world. Thanks to our deep local knowledge and extensive experience in writing guides, we've built up a unique trust with our readers and users that we're extremely proud of.
Founded in Sweden in 2008, Thatsup has a rich heritage of providing unparalleled local insights and recommendations in prominent cities like Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmö. Building on our historic foundation, we've proudly extended our reach to the United Kingdom, establishing a significant presence since 2022. In the UK, we've woven our unique blend of local expertise into the fabric of cities like London and Manchester, continuing our tradition of connecting people with the best their cities have to offer.
Since the beginning, we’ve followed the mantra "We recommend, we don’t advise against." We are a positive company, always striving to see the best in businesses and individuals alike. If a place has poor service but fantastic hamburgers, we will focus on the hamburgers (though, of course, we will never highlight the service as something positive).
How does Thatsup work?
Using Thatsup is easy. You can navigate around using the main menu or search in the search field to find guides, read about businesses, or discover places nearby.
Tip: Did you know that our explorer can create highly specific and personalised lists of businesses based on your own criteria? For example: "Italian restaurants that serve dinner, have outdoor seating, and are within 900 metres of 10 Downing Street, sorted by distance." You choose a main category: ranging from restaurants, bars, and hotels to activities, hairdressers, and spas. Then, you can choose where you want to search (areas/places, distance from addresses, your position, etc.) and filter by characteristics.
Become a Thatsup user
You can certainly use Thatsup without logging in, but creating a user profile on Thatsup gives you several advantages, plus you avoid the ads. Becoming a member is as simple as creating a user account and logging in. It's completely free, of course – we don't even offer any additional services that you can pay for. Create your own top lists and bookmark places you want to visit
Once you've created a user profile, you can start rating and reviewing businesses you've visited. You can also bookmark places you want to visit, save places you've been to, and start creating your own top lists.

After more than 15 years in the industry, we've had the privilege of meeting many fantastic, knowledgeable, and engaged people in the hotel, restaurant, and service industries. It has also given us insight into the daily lives of many business owners, what works well and what doesn’t get done. One area that's been in demand, regardless of the industry, is the often-lacking time for marketing, updating websites and social media.
