Turning Earth Hoxton
From total newbies to professional artists, everyone can enjoy making ceramics at Turning Earth, which has several locations in London. The studio in Hoxton is set into two glass-fronted railway arches, creating a pleasant environment for discovering pottery. The exposed brick space has a rustic feel and you'll see stacks of ceramics on shelves, as well as pieces that are air-drying outside.
This pottery studio runs a range of courses as well as other exciting events like maker's markets. It was the first open-access ceramics studio in the city and has a bustling creative atmosphere. There's a strong sense of community thanks to open-access memberships, which allow ceramicists to access the studio in a way that suits them and work independently on creative projects.
Turning Earth Hoxton has communal workspaces as well as all the professional equipment needed for ceramics. There are kilns, storage space, and all the tools you need, but you're also welcome to bring your own. The courses here are very much in-demand but are a great way to hone your skills. Both wheel throwing and hand-building sessions are available. Each course runs for several weeks and is taught by an experienced artist. You can join an introductory course for complete beginners or you can try more advanced sessions to build on the skills you already have. This place makes ceramics accessible for everyone, and after completing a course you can get a studio membership so that you can keep developing your craft.
