Here's one for the food diary: on Tuesday 10 June, Chef Chet Sharma of BiBi is teaming up with Chef Rafael Cagali of two Michelin-starred Da Terra for a dinner that promises to bring serious flavour and fun to Mayfair.
The pair go way back, having met over 15 years ago when Chet was working at L'Enclume and Rafael came up from Fera to get stuck into farm life. Now, they're finally getting back in the kitchen together, and they're bringing their A-game.
The menu is a mash-up of heritage and high-end technique. Expect spice-filled dishes inspired by Chet's Indian roots and shaped by years spent in some of the world's top kitchens. Rafael will be flexing his own background in Brazilian and Italian cooking, channelling the family-style feel of his Bethnal Green spot Elis with the sophistication you'd expect from Da Terra.
Chet Sharma says: “Along with the whole team at BiBi, I can't wait to welcome Rafa and his team to the restaurant. Any visit to Da Terra is characterised by unique flavours that stay with you long after leaving the restaurant. I'm looking forward to exploring how Rafa's cuisine intertwines with my own style, and it's going to be a joy to collaborate with a friend I haven't shared a kitchen with since 2015!”
Bookings go live Saturday, 10 May via the BiBi newsletter, which you can subscribe to here, or if you've missed that then just book on their website for 10 June in the evening.
