Fitzrovia is brimming with interesting restaurants, and the newly opened Aces Foodcraft slips neatly into that mix. The project comes from chef Alex Craciun, whose last big London outing was at Sosharu, and it works as a laid-back neighbourhood spot by day and an intimate chef's counter by night.
The restaurant is located in Pearson Square and features menus built around what's in season, with a focus on quality ingredients and rotating specials. Lunch is all about the seasonal à la carte menu, while in the evenings, things tighten up with a nine-seat counter that becomes the focal point, where Craciun cooks and plates directly in front of guests in a tasting-menu format.
Aces is also a family-run operation, with Craciun running it alongside his wife, Aleksandra Jazevica. Her background in sourcing high-end produce feeds into a menu that's clearly ingredient-led. Starters include dishes like lamb paired with truffle and spring vegetables, and wagyu matched with asparagus and pickled mushrooms. The emphasis is on seasonality, but the overall vibe is closer to a neighbourhood restaurant than a fine-dining institution.
If you want to try one of Fitzrovia's latest openings for yourself, Aces Foodcraft is now taking bookings.
