Homies on Donkeys, East London's cult-favourite taqueria, is celebrating its 8th anniversary with a summer-long series of creative, community-led events. From humble beginnings selling salsa outside a Hackney flat, it's grown into one of London's most talked-about Mexican spots, now based in Leytonstone.
The anniversary highlights include a special taco series co-created with local regulars, reinforcing the brand's ethos of collaboration and grassroots connection. They'll also be hosting a big birthday bash on 31 July, complete with tacos, margs, and banging hip-hop tunes. Plus, in a nod to its name, Homies is supporting The Donkey Sanctuary, a UK charity focused on donkey welfare, reflecting how the dynamic founder duo of Smokey and Sandra Bello has built more than just a restaurant – they've fostered a space of food, culture, and camaraderie.
