The Islington Festival of Music and Art returns this July for a vibrant 10-day celebration of live music in venues across the borough, themed around “Simple Gifts” from Copland's “Appalachian Spring” and dedicated to musical tributes and dedications.

The festival opens with Gershwin's iconic “Rhapsody in Blue” and closes with Florence Price's rarely performed “Piano Quintet”, blending familiar favourites with fresh discoveries. Audiences can expect 15 concerts featuring 43 performers and music from 41 composers, including festival regulars and exciting new talents.
Performances will take place in iconic Islington venues like St. Mary's and Christ Church, as well as intriguing newcomers such as the Old Sessions House and After Noah, with late-night concerts at the Little Angel Theatre. Angel Central hosts a weekend of free swing dance classes and open-air performances, including a jazz set by the Sol Grimshaw Quartet. Musical theatre fans can enjoy hits from the West End and Broadway during “An Evening at the Musicals,” while relaxed audiences can unwind with expanded Coffee Mornings and Yoga with Harp sessions.
