Cinema Made in Italy 2026: Experience some of the finest Italian filmmaking today

Cinema Made in Italy returns to BFI Southbank for its 16th edition from 4 to 8 March 2026, presenting a curated selection of the best recent Italian films. The programme features ten new titles alongside Pietro Germi's 1959 classic “The Facts of Murder”, with four films directed by women and Q&A sessions following every screening.

Opening night belongs to Damiano Michieletto's debut feature “Primavera”, fresh from its Toronto premiere and set for UK release in April 2026. Highlights also include works by Ludovica Rampoldi, Mario Martone, Nicolangelo Gelormini, Laura Samani, and Margherita Spampinato, whose “Sweetheart” won major awards at Locarno. Organised by Cinecittà and the BFI with the Italian Cultural Institute, the festival offers a rich, varied snapshot of contemporary Italian cinema.
