Mixologist maestro Salvatore Calabrese is set to open his next glamorous bar located in the prestigious 5-star Corinthia hotel. The award-winning cocktail legend worked at Duke’s Hotel in the ‘80s and became renowned for creating their iconic dry martini. Ever since, he’s been paving the way for mixology and has won countless awards, written bestselling books and ultimately changed the face of cocktails for good.

His next venture, The Velvet Bar, will take over the space of Bassoon Bar in Corinthia. As expected, the interiors are already on-point. Still, you can expect that to be taken up a level with new original artwork, a marble fireplace and a healthy splash of velvet.

Now, for the important part: the drinks. You won’t want to come here in search of the perfect pint; instead, you can expect a carefully curated cocktail list and all of the classics. However, there’s certainly a crossover with these categories since the Maestro is responsible for creating two menu mainstays, The Breakfast Martini and the Spicy Fifty.

They’ll keep the live music from the former Bassoon Bar, but there will be a new menu of small plates perfect for sharing alongside your cocktails.
