It's only been a year since Colonel Saab launched their first venture in Holborn, but visionary restaurateur Roop Partap Choudhary is preparing to unveil the second and larger of the Colonel Saab restaurants, set to grace the heart of Trafalgar Square this November.
This luxurious new establishment is set to make its debut around the second anniversary of the Holborn hotspot, upholding the same menu with culinary offerings enriched with homemade recipes and decor and artefacts gathered by the Choudhary family during their extensive travels across India. The all-day dining menu includes versions of beloved local dishes, including British and Indian fusion afternoon high tea, Sunday Lamb Curry, signature creations such as Falahari Curry Kofta and Gutti Vankaya, and a selection of desserts, including the Rasmalai Milk Cake and Bengali Mishti Doi Cheesecake.
The second restaurant will boast an elegant bar, a comfortable lounge area, and a dining room decorated with a canopy of chandeliers from Firozabad, along with a mezzanine level and two private dining rooms, which will be overseen by Executive Chef Sohan Bhandari.
Colonel Saab was established by Roop Partap Choudhary as a tribute to his family and the rich heritage of Indian culture. In the past year, it has garnered numerous accolades, including recognition from Forbes as one of the top Indian restaurants, the title of Newcomer of the Year at the Asian Curry Awards, Best Newcomer at the British Curry Awards, and the coveted Harden's Certificate of Achievement.
Both of these restaurants will serve as a tribute to Choudhary's journeys across India alongside his parents, Mrs Binny Choudhary and Colonel Manbeer, who was given the name 'Colonel Saab' during his tenure in the Indian Army.
Roop Partap Choudhary states, "We launched Colonel Saab two years ago to celebrate the diverse cultures of India and introduce London to the lovingly prepared, authentic flavours found in homes, street markets, and royal kitchens across the subcontinent. We are humbled by the enthusiastic reception of our Holborn establishment, allowing us to unveil a second Colonel Saab near Trafalgar Square."
Colonel Saab in Trafalgar Square will open in November.
