There was a time when punters would come from far and wide for a Sunday roast at The Tavern on the Hill in Walthamstow – famously, even Stormzy came to check it out. The beloved neighbourhood pub close in July this year, but is already gearing up to write the next chapter under new management.

The Leytonstone Tavern relaunch has been a big hit

The Tavern on the Hill in Higham Hill will reopen on Friday 29 August, run by Taverns East, the award-winning team behind the Leytonstone Tavern. The new chapter for The Tavern on the Hill will keep its neighbourhood pub feel while introducing destination food made from high-quality, well-sourced ingredients, with everything prepared in-house.

The pub will feature extensive outdoor seating, a rotating beer list from East London Brewing and other local breweries, plus cocktails and coffee from Perky Blenders. After a short refurbishment, it will open Wednesday to Sunday with a street food focus on their celebrated hand-pressed burgers, before expanding to include Sunday roasts in September.
