Trader Vic’s is a tiki legend in London, having been serving cocktails since 1963 and counting distinguished names like Elton John and Marlon Brando amongst its clientele. Based at the Hilton hotel in Park Lane, the bar has sadly now been told it must shut its doors for good on 31st December. The hotel wishes to renovate the space, which is set in its basement.

This tropical paradise is known for its lively Polynesian-inspired decor, rum-based cocktails served in tiki mugs, supersized sharing cocktails, and tempting US and Asian bites. With only a handful of Trader Vic’s venues still open around the world, this closure will see the numbers dwindle even further.

Fans of the venue aren’t taking this lightly. With many loyal customers unhappy about the decision, a petition has been launched to prevent its closure, which has gathered more than 4,000 signatures at the time of writing. If you want to show your support and save this tiki institution, you can still add your name.
