The winter season might be dark and dreary but Kew Gardens has got the ideal remedy to brighten up the days. Its annual Orchid Festival is back between 3rd February and 3rd March, transforming the gardens with vibrant flora and inspiring displays. Each year, the festival is themed on a country where the flower naturally grows and thrives, and for 2024 it's all about Madagascar.
Visit the festival to see intricately-made floral displays using orchids and plants of all colours, sizes, and shapes. Added to that, there's a whole host of Madagascar-themed activities and attractions to enjoy. There's an exhibition of photography by Tina Waibel that focuses on life in Madagascar, soundscapes of Malagasy city life and traditional music, a pop-up shop, short film screenings, and a pop-up Malagasy kitchen from chef Lilia Andrianavony. After-hours events where you can explore the festival and enjoy talks, music, and cocktails are on as well.
Entry to the festival is included in a general entry ticket to Kew Gardens. Find out more about the festival and book your tickets on the Kew Gardens website.
