New research has revealed where in the UK is best for pups and their people, and London has snagged second place.

The study, by Capital on Tap, looked at 30 major cities and compared everything from green space to the number of pet shops and dog-friendly venues. Manchester came out on top, but London wasn't far behind, thanks to sheer scale and variety.

The capital is home to 259 pet shops, 439 groomers, and nearly 300 dog-friendly job listings, making it easier than anywhere else in the country to keep your pooch pampered while you pay the bills. Add in 23% green space and the fact that almost one in ten venues will welcome your four-legged mate, and London is a serious contender for best in show.

Brighton and Hove snagged third place, offering seaside strolls and a relaxed vibe where more than 10% of venues are dog-friendly. Other cities in the top 10 include Bradford, Swansea and Edinburgh.

From Manchester to Brighton to London, it's clear the UK isn't just a nation of dog owners, we're a nation of dog devotees.
