If you want to fully embrace the start of the festive season, the Museum of the Home is running its annual wreath-making workshop, led by long-time Head Gardener Heather Stevens. It's taking place on Saturday 6 December inside the Hoxton museum, and is a cosy way to spend an afternoon getting into the Christmas spirit.

Heather has been shaping the museum's gardens for almost three decades, so this workshop is partly a seasonal craft session and partly a chance to pick up a few tricks from someone who knows what they're doing. You'll be shown how to build a proper wreath using fresh foliage and materials, and you'll head home with something that looks far lovelier than anything you'd throw together with supermarket spruce.

This is also Heather's final workshop before stepping down, so the atmosphere is likely to be a mix of festive energy and gentle send-off. All materials are provided, you just need to show up ready to clip, twist and occasionally wrestle with a stubborn branch.
