Jason Atherton's St James' restaurant, Sael, has added a bottomless lunch to its Saturdays, and it's a fairly straightforward one: three courses, free-flowing drinks, and enough time to actually enjoy it without having to rush out the door.
The menu sticks to familiar territory, with starters such as Cornish prawn salad, Irish smoked salmon on Guinness bread, or a seasonal squash dish with stilton. Mains are all about comfort food, including steak frites, cod cheeks with smoked bacon, or sausage and mash with Guinness and onion gravy. Dessert is shared ground, with options like warm chocolate mousse, malt ice cream and hazelnut.
Drinks are where the bottomless part comes in, with Guinness, Empress lager or prosecco free-flowing, plus a premium sparkling upgrade if you want it. Alcohol-free options are available, and service is calm rather than pushy.
At £65 per person, or £85 with the sparkling upgrade, it's aimed at people who want a proper meal and a few drinks in central London without having just a two-hour window to smash through it all. If you want to keep things going afterwards, The Blind Pig cocktail bar upstairs is an easy next move.
Sael's Saturday bottomless lunch is available now, priced from £65 per person.
