The premise at chef Nico Simeone’s Six by Nico restaurants is quite simple – six courses of fine dining, revolving around a theme that changes every six weeks and is served at a fixed, affordable price. Past concepts have included a topical focus on global cuisine such as Thai or the current Greece, as well as more ethereal concepts, for example guilty pleasures.
It is to this latter category that the upcoming theme belongs to, with the chef drawing on Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland to offer creative, adventurous and at times slightly mad dishes that are sure to surprise. The Down the Rabbit Hole tasting menu will include the following six courses:
- Mad Hatter’s Tea Party: Mushroom Tea, Smoked Bacon Jam, Truffle Parmesan Royale, Pickled Walnut & Keens Cheddar Scone
- The White Rabbit: Rabbit & Date Ballotine, Beef Fat Roasted Carrot, Tarragon Pesto, Rabbit Bolognese, Carrot Ketchup
- Paint the Roses Red: Celeriac Rose, Baby Beets, Garden Radish, Kalamata Olive Soil & Red Apple Caramel
- Eat Me, Drink Me!: Roast Cod, Miso & Yuzu Glaze, Bonito Emulsion, White Turnip Puree, Pickled Tokyo Turnip, Dashi Broth
- Off With Its Head!: Pork Belly, Choucroute, Apple Gel, Pig Head Croquette, Cauliflower & Sauce Charcuterie
- Learn How to Make Mushrooms: 54% Chocolate & Cep Cremeux, Praline Ice Cream, Candied Hazelnut, Chocolate Soil, Smoked Maldon & Cask Sherry
Vegetarian and vegan alternatives will be available as well.
The Down the Rabbit Hole menu will be served at both London locations from 10th October to 20th November. Bookings are already open on the Six by Nico website, so there’s no excuse to pull a White Rabbit and be late.
