London's magical seasonal steam train is getting ready to roll back into the capital, offering Londoners a rare chance to board a beautifully restored vintage locomotive for a festive voyage through the city.

This year's journey once again features the historic 61306 Mayflower at the front – an engine that looks exactly as you'd picture a storybook steam train as it winds its way along a 90-minute route. On board, families can expect a mix of friendly entertainment, from roaming performers to intriguing storytelling sessions, plus the usual selection of tasty festive treats. Grown-ups are served a hot drink and a mince pie, while younger ones get to enjoy a small gift and activity pack to keep them busy en route.

Passengers can pick from standard seats, upgraded carriages, or fully private compartments large enough for a small group. Services run on selected dates from December 20–22, and tickets start at £55. The trips usually book up fast, so it's worth securing a spot early if this tickles your fancy. You can book tickets here.
