Opening on 13 September 2025, the David Bowie Centre at V&A East Storehouse is the permanent home of Bowie's extensive archive, housing over 90,000 items, including 414 costumes, nearly 150 instruments, stage designs, props, personal diaries, lyrics, and over 70,000 photographs.

Visitors will have access to a working archive with new reading and study rooms, where they can book appointments through the V&A's Order an Object service to view Bowie's costumes, writings, and memorabilia up close. The centre also offers a dynamic visitor experience, featuring curated displays of iconic Ziggy Stardust and Aladdin Sane ensembles, film screenings of Bowie's performances, and installations exploring his cultural impact.
At launch, guest curators Nile Rodgers and The Last Dinner Party present a special exhibition, showcasing highlights like Bowie's Serious Moonlight tour suit, handwritten lyrics, setlists, and personal correspondence. Visitors can also explore Bowie's unrealised projects, including plans to adapt George Orwell's “1984” and ideas for film versions of “Young Americans” and “Diamond Dogs".
