The Mayfair Chippy isn't the first place you think of when considering Iftar, but its Knightsbridge outpost is serving a thoughtful one throughout Ramadan. Available daily after 5pm, the four-course menu is designed for sharing and brings together familiar chippy favourites with subtle Middle Eastern inspos.
It starts traditionally, with medjool dates, lentil soup and small snacks, before moving into a mezze-style course for the table, such as prawn toast with sriracha mayo or crispy oyster mushrooms with black garlic. Mains are served as generous sharing platters, including a classic fried fish spread, a lamb shepherd's pie with Middle Eastern flavours, or a whole chermoula-marinated seabass. Dessert comes as a scattering of mini puddings, which feels like the right note to end on.
The Mafair Chippy's Iftar menu is available throughout the month of Ramadan at the Knightsbridge restaurant.
