Opening on 15 May, the Museum of Youth Culture in Camden is the UK's first permanent institution dedicated to the profound impact of young people on modern British history.
For decades, youth movements emerging from clubs, markets, and community halls have fundamentally reshaped the nation, yet the stories of these diverse subcultures have historically lacked formal recognition or long-term preservation. A new landmark museum, evolving from an extensive grassroots photo and venue flyer archive, aims to change that.

The Museum of Youth Culture features three gallery spaces that trace the evolution of British subcultures through photography, fashion, audio, and print, documenting how marginal movements eventually define the mainstream. Its collection includes everything from archival photographs to objects and oral histories.
