The tube is a regular part of life for most Londoners but if you fancy a journey that's a bit out of the ordinary, in September there's the opportunity to ride aboard a vintage Art Deco tube train. London Transport Museum puts on heritage train days and on 9th and 10th September it's the Amersham Special, tying in with Amersham Old Town Heritage Day on the 10th.

On both days you'll be able to ride on a 1938 Art Deco-style train, celebrating the model's 85th birthday. The 1938 stock is notable because it was the first type of tube train to have all of its electrical equipment beneath the floor. It brought together the newest technology of the day with typical style from the era. The train features Art Deco light fixtures and green and red moquette seating.

Several journeys will take place each day, all departing from Amersham. Stewards will be on-board and you can choose which part of the train you'd like to sit in. All journeys are a return trip to Watford except for the final journey of each day, which will be a one-way service to Harrow-on-the-Hill. Before your train departs you can enjoy a variety of attractions at Amersham station including a selfie wall, souvenirs, and a display of tube memorabilia. Head over to the London Transport Museum website to book your ticket.
