There's a new reason to head to the National Maritime Museum, and this time it's less about seafaring history and more about what's going on a few million miles above it. “Astronomers Take Over”, launching from 27 March, is a hands-on, space-themed experience that leans into interaction over observation.

At its core, this is an all-ages setup that doesn't talk down to kids or overcomplicate things for adults. You can have a go at landing a Mars rover (harder than it sounds), experiment with a starlight splitter, and chat to real members of the Royal Observatory Greenwich team, who are on hand to answer questions that range from the curious to the very specific.

It opens from 27 March 2026 and is expected to run throughout the spring.
