Women and Power: Mary Beard, Nardus Williams, and Elizabeth Kenny

On Sunday 8 March, an engaging event will take place at Wigmore Hall in honour of International Women's Day. The evening will feature a compelling blend of music and discussion, led by soprano Nardus Williams, lutenist Elizabeth Kenny, and renowned classicist and historian Mary Beard. The theme for the evening is 'Women and Power,' explored through a combination of music and insightful dialogue.

The program will showcase compositions by Barbara Strozzi, Francesca Caccini, and Claudia Sessa, alongside poetry from figures like Nossis and Carol Ann Duffy. A highlight of the event will be a new interpretation of the Eurydice myth, presented as an 'anti-lament' by Errollyn Wallen, the Master of the King's Music. This unique event promises to offer a rich exploration of women's roles and influence throughout history, expressed through both music and words.
