Smith & Whistle

Situated at the Sheraton Grand London hotel in Mayfair, the retro-styled cocktail bar serves drinks not just to human patrons, but their four-legged companions as well.

Smith & Whistle is named after the famed comic stories of Detective Inspector Smith and his scoundrel nemesis Mr William Whistle. Inspired by the characters’ love of a stiff drink, the cocktail bar pours 35ml as standard and features 1920s decor with stylish copper walls.

There’s a broad array of intriguing gins, whiskeys, rums and other spirits you can try at this bar, with a cigar menu to go along with and an outdoor terrace for al fresco enjoyment to boot. The bar is perhaps better known for its cocktail menu, however, as the resident bartenders are dab hands at crafting a classic martini or adding their own twist to established favourites. There are intriguing house options you can choose from as well, for example the Mr. Bracewell, a sipping drink that’s delicately balanced with Martell VSOP, port wine and cinnamon honey water, then garnished with a cherry coated in cacao nibs.

You can also enjoy a bite to eat at the Smith & Whistle, with the food menu featuring a range of international favourites, from shareable snacks such as popcorn chicken or mezze to burgers, pizza, fish ‘n’ chips and more.

With its proximity to Green Park, local dog walkers will be especially happy to hear that the bar is among the most dog-friendly establishments in London, to the point where pooches are privileged with their own cocktail menu. Prepared in collaboration with a canine nutritionist, the Dogtail Menu features three nutritionally valuable, flavourful cocktails that are sure to get tails wagging.
