Gelatorino

A veritable slice of northern Italy right in Covent Garden, Gelatorino is a minimalistic café that serves scoops of creamy small-batch ice cream delights, as well as a selection of cakes, crepes and small bites, even offering some Italian groceries to take home.

Gelatorino on Russell Street is a cosy bit of Italy, particularly the area around Turin, one of the country’s main gelato centres. The award-winning gelato artisans make their frozen treats using carefully-sourced produce and traditional techniques from back home in Italy, resulting in a smooth, creamy texture that isn't as fatty as regular ice cream. With an open kitchen running along the café interior, you can catch a glimpse of the masters at work – they can even host gelato production sessions for those who want to learn more about the craft.

The gelato itself comes in a variety of established flavours, from Italian classics such as hazelnut, fior di latte and Stracciatella to the rich, heady scoops of gianduja, zabaione, rum & raisins, chestnut and other specialties originating in the Turinese region. There’s also an array of more international offerings such as pumpkin pie, Earl Grey and New York cheesecake, as well as different fruit-based sorbets.
