In 1848, workers were constructing the new Coal Exchange when they stumbled across one of the most impressive Roman buildings ever discovered in London; excavations later revealed that the house was built in the late second century. You can explore it for yourself on certain Saturdays throughout the year from April-November on guided 45-minute tours.
