Trivia: Borough Market is supposedly over 1,000 years old, with the earliest known record being from 1276.

A trip to Borough Market is a must-do activity for food lovers in London. Whether you’re in the mood for a restaurant meal, street food with a riverside view, or finding indulgent ingredients to take home with you, Borough Market offers it all. Perhaps London’s most famous food market, it has a history dating back around 1,000 years to when traders first sold food on the site. The market as we know it today started in 1756 and continues to develop with new food offerings.

Whether you’re looking for quality cheese, olive oil, fruit, or anything in between, at Borough Market you can buy artisan ingredients that are ideal for an impromptu picnic or for enjoying at home. Even if you’re not sure what to buy, you’ll be tempted by the many free samples available around the market. From basic ingredients to indulgent treats, the wide range of products draws a bustling crowd of locals and tourists, especially at weekends.

When all that food shopping makes you feel hungry, there are plenty of places to eat at the market. Choose a sit-down meal in one of the many varied restaurants, including plant-based food, pasta, and pub grub. If you’d rather eat on the street and soak up the market atmosphere, choose from many food traders in the market. There are plenty of international options, including Iranian street food, vegetarian Indian cuisine, or filling roast meat sandwiches. However you choose to spend your time at Borough Market there’s one thing for sure – you won’t be leaving hungry!

It’s always busy and crowded, especially during tourist season, so don’t come here expecting to eat in peace, but it’s popular for a reason. The food you can get at the stalls here is varied, authentic and flavourful, ideal for a quick lunch breakor sightseeing snack.

Too busy and less friendly for kids to have something to eat peacefully. Also, too difficult to pick what to eat (both for kids and for adults) as there are so many options available with all the hassle and noise.
But if you are really into exploring variety of food with good vibe, do pay visit...

Just walk towards this market- shop, eat and have some sweets 🙏🏼

A must-visit food market in London. Most of the time it’s really busy but there’s so much choice whether you’re after restaurants, street food, or ingredients to take home. I love the atmosphere here too.

Nice selection of street food but gets veryyyyyy busy sometimes

Biggest and most diverse market in London, I find something new and exciting to eat and drink evert time I visit. Dozens of incredible restaurants are found nearby.
