Known as the Museum of Childhood before renovation, the Young V&A opened in 2023 as a hands-on museum designed to develop creativity and confidence in children. It was co-designed by children and young people, and features sensory playscapes, an open design studio, a finger skateboarding park, an interactive Minecraft installation, street art murals, and more. Its three permanent galleries showcase more than 2,000 objects and are accompanied by temporary exhibitions, events, and activities. Admission is free.

Hands down the best museum for families I’ve been to in London. Free entry, you can wheel your pram around, there’s loads of fun things for kids of all ages to do, and there are fascinating exhibits for adults too. Definitely an easy way to spend a day out with the kids.
