C&R Café Restaurant
C&R Café is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of London's Chinatown, offering a cosy, authentic taste of Malaysia.
Founded in 1998 by Rosa and her husband after relocating from Johor, the café was born out of a longing for the comforting flavours of their homeland. Unable to find authentic Malaysian cuisine in London, they decided to recreate the rustic dishes of their childhood, with the goal of sharing their love for traditional Malay food with others.
The café captures the vibrant essence of Malaysias cuisine, drawing inspiration from the bustling hawker centres, lively mamak stalls, and humble kopitiams. Over two decades since first opening, C&R Café remains a go-to spot for Malay expats seeking a familiar taste of home, serving iconic dishes like nasi lemak and laksa. The menu also includes lesser-known family favourites, such as Teo Cheow Pork Belly, Five Spice Lok Bak, and homemade carrot cake, all prepared from recipes passed down through generations. The welcoming, family-oriented atmosphere is reflected not only in the dishes but in the close-knit staff and warm service despite the quick turnaround.
With its unassuming charm and authentic flavours, C&R Café offers a homely dining experience right in the heart of London.
