We took the tube up to Islington. Away from the tourist trails. Was going to go to a place called Hector's but there was already a waiting list not even an hour after opening so we turned our wine noses the other way and went to Cadet. What a stroke of luck.
There we ended up at the bar, right where you want to sit.
The staff greeted us with smiles and we immediately felt welcome. We buzzed on as we usually do. The guy who served us had just returned from a trip to Stockholm and talked so well about Babette and Brute's cider.
Started with some petnat and orange wine, brought in dishes to share, "simple servings" but flavors on a level of their own. It was such a great atmosphere throughout.
Get off the tourist streets and go here, you won't regret it.
